What to Include in Your Anti Aging Routine by Age

March 30, 2022

Anti aging routine by age – The best anti-aging treatments for you will depend on your age. As we mature, our skin changes, and as such so should our routine. Here's a guide to what to include in your anti-aging routine by age.

Every age group is different; they have different needs and struggles, and they're all susceptible to different types of damage. Whether it's hyperpigmentation or fine lines and wrinkles, there are certain products that will help each specific problem the most.

To make things easier for you, we've broken down an anti-aging routine by age group; from the 20s through 40s up to 60+, these lists include everything you need to keep your skin looking young and fresh!

Anti Aging Routine by Age

What You Need in Your Skincare Routine in Your 20s

When you're in your twenties, you have a few more worries than when you hit 30. For instance, early anti-aging signs are very prominent in the 20s because of the changes that are occurring within the body.

Typically, at this age, it's important to be focusing on things like reducing hyperpigmentation marks and acne scars with lightening agents while also preventing further damage with antioxidants.

It's just as indispensable to keep moisture locked into your skin because young skin is still producing collagen and elastin at an incredible rate, which means there is no need for intense moisturizing or wrinkle repair yet!

Here is what you should include in your skincare routine when you're 20

Anti Aging Routine by Age

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the most beneficial ingredients, an antioxidant, you can add to your skincare routine when in your 20s. By adding this, you'll be helping to decrease hyperpigmentation and acne scars.

Vitamin C serums typically come in a range of percentages, and it can be hard to find the best percentage for your skin without knowing which formula will work best; we recommend starting out with an oil-soluble vitamin C (ascorbic acid) that comes in a low concentration.

2+ Topicals® Nutritional Lotion is a rich lotion that nourishes the skin from the outside in. The ingredients in 2+ Topicals Nutritional Lotion are the key to its effective actions. They deliver vitamin A, Vitamin B12, vitamin E, vitamin D, Vitamin K2, and vitamin C to the skin directly.

Exfoliating Cleanser

Anti Aging Routine by Age

Exfoliation is a must in the 20s! This is because your skin still produces collagen and elastin, which means there is no need for profound moisturizing or wrinkle repair yet. By exfoliating away dead cells from the surface layers of your skin, you're revealing brighter and more glowing skin underneath and prepping it to receive hydration and active ingredients.

AETHEION® ZCM15 Facial Serum is an antioxidant cleanser that combines ZCM15 Redox Technology in an advanced formulation of Zn/Cu SOD combined with silver and the ancient power of the calendula plant. The Calendula plant has been used for centuries to protect skin from harsh conditions. Use as a first application to cleanse, reduce free radicals, and re-energize the skin’s younger, smoother look.

Hydrating Toner

When you first cleanse, your pores are open, and they'll absorb whatever you put on them, so it's important to use a hydrating toner as this will help to lock moisture into the skin. It'll also tighten and restore any lost elasticity caused by previous damage, and leave your face feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!

Sunscreen

A crucial addition to any skincare routine in the 20s and beyond; we recommend using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 that is water-resistant for daily use.

This is a great way to add anti-aging benefits to your routine without the harshness.

What You Need in Your Skincare Routine in Your 30s

By this point in time, you've probably noticed that your eye area has started to become drier and more sensitive; likely you're also noticing fine lines in the corner of your eyes and around the lip and eye areas.  This doesn't mean that your 30s are the end, it just means you need to step up your game.

At this age, you should be including anti-aging ingredients like Retinol into your routine every day (if not twice daily depending on skin type).

If you can find a gentle retinol treatment, even better, but because the skin is already showing minor signs of aging at this point, we recommend using an active ingredient no matter what.

Also, important during the early stages of anti-aging for those over 30 is sun protection; don't forget to include an SPF (preferably one with zinc) even if it's only for the morning!

It's not unusual for people in their thirties (and 40s!) to be dealing with wrinkles forming on their face, so adding wrinkle repair ingredients, firming agents, skin brightening acids, skin tightening peptides are all necessary at this age group aging is inevitable.

It is important to remember that there are plenty of ingredients out there that you can add to your routine to combat the effects thus far and prevent future damage!

Here is what you should include in your skincare routine when you're 30

Vitamin C

Other than that, everything else is the same as in your 20s; you still need that vitamin C serum (although concentrations can be higher depending on skin type), exfoliating cleanser, and hydrating toner.

AETHEION® ZCM15 Health Lotion contains a concentration of ZCM15 Redox Technology in a formulation enriched with a spectrum of high-quality vitamins and ionized minerals to promote skin health naturally. It is a vitamin A, vitamin E, and vitamin C body lotion. It soothes the skin and fights free radicals effectively due to the Zinc, Copper SOD effect.

Eye Cream

A powerful way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area, we recommend an eye cream with peptides for firming and wrinkle repair, ceramides for moisture plumping, and antioxidants for anti-aging. It's also a great idea to look for an eye cream that has SPF in it so that you're not putting sun protection on under your eyes which could lead to further skin darkening.

Retinol

If at all possible, you want to be including a retinoid into your routine at this point. Additionally, if you're currently using retinol and want to add another anti-aging product, we recommend adding an antioxidant serum.

Moisturizing Cream

In your thirties, it becomes more important to add intense hydration into your skincare routine with a hydrating serum or cream that includes humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid while also avoiding ingredients that will cause increased irritation such as fragrances and dyes.

AETHEION® ZC30 Anti-Aging Cream is a daytime moisturizer that combines ZC30 Redox Technology using zinc copper SOD in an advanced multi-protection antioxidant skin cream that helps prevent aging signs—coupled with the anti-aging power of Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, fight free radicals and help prevent future skin damage.

Face Oil

This can be a great way to combat fine lines without increasing redness or sensitivity around the eye area by providing intense moisture for all-over application! Oil is typically a great way to add a little indulgence to your routine while also restoring hydration.

Anti Aging Routine by Age

What You Need in Your Skincare Routine in Your 40s

Sagging, loss of volume, and deep wrinkles are all things that may become noticeable in the 40s.

In your 40s it becomes more important to add intense hydration with humectants & hyaluronic acid while avoiding fragrances & dyes that can cause irritation as well as a lookout for anti-aging ingredients like peptides and antioxidants.

In addition, sunscreen use cannot be stressed enough as this is the age where signs of aging, like hands wrinkles, become very apparent. Lastly, don't forget about your neck too--you want to apply anti-aging ingredients here too!

In addition to adding retinol into your routine when possible, you'll want to include peptides into your skincare routine for firming benefits and antioxidants for anti-aging protection against anything that might be worsening with age or environmental exposure. Additionally, it's important at this point (and beyond!) to find an eye cream that fits these purposes along with SPF protection.

Here is what you include in your skincare routine when you are 40

Peptides

Peptides help to stimulate collagen production which is important for volume and firmness.

Retinol

As mentioned above, adding anti-aging ingredients like retinol is essential in your 40s (and beyond). Again, be sure to find one that's gentle enough if you're currently using a retinoid as they can cause redness if too potent. Regardless of whether or not you're currently using a retinoid, it's safe to include one into your routine at this point!

Moisturizing Cream or Serum

At this point, you'll want to focus on hydration with an oil that has antioxidants added to it so that it functions both as a super moisturizing serum and an anti-aging treatment!

AETHEION ZC30 Anti-Aging Cream is a daytime moisturizer that combines ZC30 Redox Technology using zinc copper SOD in an advanced multi-protection antioxidant skin cream that helps prevent aging signs—coupled with the anti-aging power of vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, fight free radicals and help prevent future skin damage. AETHEION® ZC30 Anti Aging Cream is a free radical scavenger moisturizer that keeps a long-lasting younger anti-acne look.

Face Oil

Adding an oil to your routine is also beneficial at this point as many people begin to see signs of aging like sagging or loss of volume. Nourishing face oil can be used for all-over applications to not only hydrate but fight signs of aging!

What You Need in Your Skincare Routine in Your 50s

With age comes a loss of skin lipids, a decrease in skin's natural collagen production, and less efficient cell turnover.

You also want to start looking for anti-aging products to reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles from sun damage. In your fifties, you will want to add antioxidants into your daily skincare routine!

You'll want to start including ingredients that help with firming the appearance of wrinkles, which means incorporating peptides into your routine along with antioxidants. Look for peptides that specifically target wrinkles.

Moisturizing Cream

In your forties, it becomes more important to add intense hydration into your skincare routine with a hydrating serum or cream that includes humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid while also avoiding ingredients that will cause increased irritation such as fragrances and dyes

AETHEION® ZC30 Anti Aging Cream and its unique Redox Technology simulate a Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) effect with the aid of zinc and copper —the anti-aging minerals par excellence— this effectively reduces free radicals in your skin.
